When mapping out all the key features of the UK Events Industry, it becomes very clear that there are a significant number of support organisations that have been established to provide specialist help and have developed both products and services in order to do so. Most are not-for-profit or B Corp certified businesses, others are commercial operations – once again the broad range and breadth of the whole of the UK Events industry is reflected in the organisations The Power of Events platform is showcasing.

There is a clear consensus across all the 7 sectors that one of the biggest issues facing everyone working in events around the globe is sustainability and meeting the challenges of climate change. It is no surprise that the support organisations that focus on sustainability are one of the key categories on the platform, providing expertise across many different types of event format – from business events to music festivals and everything in between.

VISITSCOTLAND BUSINESS EVENTS LAUNCHES JOURNEY TO CHANGE MAGAZINE
VisitScotland Business Events has introduced its inaugural publication, Journey to Change magazine. Tailored for international trade shows attended by VisitScotland and its Scottish partners, the digital magazine highlights Scotland’s strengths for hosting business events.
EICC SCOOPS TOP SUSTAINABILITY AWARD AT BUSINESS TRAVEL AWARDS EUROPE
The Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) has won a top sustainability award at the Business Travel Awards Europe, as the venue wins in the Achievement in Sustainability – Meetings & Events category at the awards ceremony, which took place at Grosvenor House in London on 14th May.

In recent years the event industry, like many other industries, has undergone a significant shift towards sustainability and corporate responsibility. With growing environmental concerns and increasing consumer demand for ethical business practices, event companies are seeking ways to align their operations with values that prioritise people and the planet. One powerful tool gaining traction in this movement is B Corp certification, which has gained enough traction that even big name brands such as Innocent drinks, The Body Shop, and Jamie Oliver are adopting it.

The event industry’s reliance on data to help it plan for the future, increase its resilience, manage risk and justify investment decisions, is growing year on year.

The engagement and access that The Power of Events (UK) has across all 7 sectors of the industry, enables data gathering and in-depth research projects to be delivered confidently and consistently. This will be primarily facilitated through the new insight app to be launched on 28th Sep 2023.

By bringing the industry and university partners together, research projects will be designed to deliver real benefits to the industry in terms of trend analysis, insights and performance improvements.
