Event Designer (2D / 3D / software specific)
Event designers often have formal art and design qulifications which support their natural creative skills to produce designs for events of all types. From set designs to staging, exhibition stands, pop ups and large scale brand installations – working with software they design items in response to creative briefs developed with the client.
Event Manager / Producer
An Event Manager/Produceris responsible for planning and organizing events and coordinating with their clients on their needs. They usually manage a team of event planners and coordinators by delegating tasks as needed. Manager/Producer also make sure that clients sign their contracts and make their payments according to the payment agreement. They may also negotiate pricing and included services.
Event Marketing Executive / Manager / Director
A director of event marketing manages an events brand. They oversee communication, marketing and promotional activities to encourage audiences to buy into the event. They may work with the media, post on social media and employ cross-promotion techniques.
Accessibility Officer
A qualified person who understands the needs of disabled and partially disabled people including staff, volunteers, and attendees. Ensures that they are provided for appropriately. This same person might also be responsible (often with Health & Safety Manager or Welfare) for Lost and Found Children and Vulnerable Adults, plus an Ask Angela scheme.
Event Operations Manager
An event operations manager coordinates the specific operations of events. They work with organizers, host cities and various committees to organize successful events. They also ensure events comply with all safety regulations.
Event Planner
An event planner is responsible for choosing a location for the event, researching and hiring vendors, completing contracts, securing bids and managing budgets for an event. Event planners may be self-employed, work for an event planning company or work for a company, like a hotel, that provides event space and event planning services to clients and guests.
Event Director / Senior Producer / Executive Director
They must possess advanced knowledge of all financial aspects of event production, technical production, entertainment production, marketing, venue operations, and catering with exceptional analytical skills. It is essential they have advanced proficiency in contracting, negotiation skills and the in-depth ability to evaluate and address risks associated with all aspects of a program. They must be proficient in account management and business retention, and possess superior sales and customer services skills.
Event Project Coordinator / Executive
Responsible for supporting Event Managers in the end to end delivery of events by co-ordinating key elements including; venue sourcing, supplier liaison, travel & accommodation booking, delegate management and onsite.An event coordinator assists an event planner in managing and planning events. They often create budgets and timelines, schedule vendors and oversee vendors on the day of the event. An event coordinator handles day-of details and logistics, and they are also a client’s contact point for issues or questions.
Event Safety Officer (H&S)
The Event Safety Officer deals with safety and rescue operations under the guidance of the Event Director. In practice, they both work together very closely although the Event Director is ultimately responsible for the safety of the event. They are responsible for the production of the event risk assessment and for the management and control of the events safety resources.  The Event Safety Officer must be familiar with the venue. Cooperation with local authorities is highly recommended.
Exhibition Director
Managing the overall delivery of the exhibition, contract management and negotiation, management & implementation of SLAs, overseeing the management of floorplans, Health & Safety management, post event analysing and reporting
Exhibition Manager / Assistant
Reporting to the Exhibition Director, this job is an entry level introduction to exhibitions. Supporting the team and carrying out specific responsibilities such as exhibitor liaison or floor planning will form part of a busy workload.
Venue Manager
A venue manager is responsible for working with clients and event planners to coordinate events taking place at their venue, which may be at a conference hall, ballroom, hotel space or theater. They ensure that all individuals who are part of the event and the planning process utilize the space correctly and clean up after the event. Venue managers may also advertise their space, maintain relationships with ongoing clients and connect with sales leads.
Vendors, Traders and Stalls Manager
Responsible for checking required certificates and training of all vendors and stalls. Reports back to the Site Mangers. Sees that all vendors have the provisions, power, water etc. to function within their contracts, also Public Liability Insurance.
Travel / Accommodation Manager
Job that focuses on travel and hotel bookings. Business travel is still an often overlooked element of events but actually is a major contributor to the industry.
Traffic Manager
Responsible for traffic in the event area i.e., approaches to the festival or outdoor event site for signage, proper traffic control on public highway in conjunction with the police and an appropriate signage company. Is also responsible for traffic movement on site, including car parking, bone yard and visiting artists and contractors. Ensures that all processes are noted and adhered to according to the risk assessment.
Tour Manager
Responsible for every aspect of team that is touring, handling logistics, finance and communications for tours and ensuring that contractual commitements are fully met.

The event industry’s reliance on data to help it plan for the future, increase its resilience, manage risk and justify investment decisions, is growing year on year.

The engagement and access that The Power of Events UK has across all 7 sectors of the industry, enables data gathering and in-depth research projects to be delivered confidently and consistently. This will be primarily facilitated through the Events Industry Insight App launched in 2024.

By bringing the industry and university partners together, research projects will be designed to deliver real benefits to the industry in terms of trend analysis, insights and performance improvements.
