MUSIC SUPPORT ANNOUNCES RECORD NUMBER OF BENEFICIARIES
Music Support is currently working with a record number of professionals in the music and live industry who have experienced challenges around substance use and/or mental health in 2024. The UK organisation has highlighted a worrying increase in those working across the music industry in 2024 with such challenges. The charity has directly impacted at least 1,000 people from the UK music industry in the last year across its core services and has seen an increase of 51% in calls to its Helpline.

EBU appoints Martin Green as director of Eurovision Song Contest
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has appointed Martin Green in a new director role, overseeing the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) Green’s track record as an executive producer of major events includes the ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Hull UK City of Culture 2017, the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 and the BAFTA-winning Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool in 2023 on behalf of Ukraine.

Case Study: Streamlining registration across co-located events with RefTech
International Confex, the UK’s largest gathering of event professionals, took place at the Excel in London, attracting just shy of 10,000 attendees in 2024. The event is co-located with the Event Production Show (EPS), which focuses on outdoor and music events, and the PA Show, aimed at the executive support market. LIVE GROUPS RESPOND TO MARTYN’S LAW DEBATE
Live organisations in the UK have responded to a parliamentary debate on proposed new anti-terror measures for venues. Dubbed ‘Martyn’s Law’ in tribute to Martyn Hett, who was killed alongside 21 others in the 2017 Manchester bombing, the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill received its second reading in the House of Commons yesterday (14 October).

The Jockey Club Venues bolsters leadership team with new hires to drive business growth
The Jockey Club Venues, a collection of prestigious racecourse event and hospitality venues across the UK, has strengthened its Business Development team with the appointment of Dan Elliott in the new role of Head of New Business. Dan will join newly promoted Head of Conference and Events Sales for the group, Charlotte Jones. Charlotte, who previously led the growth of The Jockey Club’s Conference and Events business in the West region, will now expand her scope to a national level to drive robust sales across all of Jockey Club Venue’s 15 courses including Newmarket, Sandown Park and Epsom Downs.

Field Day Announces New Venue for 2025
After four successful years in Victoria Park, Field Day is heading south to its new home in Brockwell Park. The festival will be joining events like Wide Awake, Cross The Tracks, City Splash and Mighty Hoopla, which bring a broad range of music and culture to audiences across London. Field Day will now be part of the Brockwell Live Bank Holiday Weekender, taking place on Saturday 24th May 2025.
